Taras Shevchenko on the barricades

By the 200th anniversary of Shevchenko we installed his statue on Khreschatyk Street in Kiev at the headquarters of the revolution (City Hall).
The composition consists of pieces of real Kiev’s barricades and Shevchenko figure in bronze. The total height is about 3 meters. Artist - Igor Grechanyk.

His words, that carry the spirit of freedom, inspire us! 
Fight – and you will overcome! 
God helps you!
True is on your side, and glory
And holy will!

Prayer for Ukraine

Presentation in Kiev on Independance Day of Ukraine

The idea of a sculptural composition is the image of the Virgin - Grieving mother in prayer for Ukraine, for the fate of the Ukrainian people, for its heroes, for its victims, for its future. The Ukrainian ritual cloth, creating a woman's silhouette in prayer, acts as a guard for Ukraine and its citizens, heroes, and also the keeper of a memory of those who perished for Ukraine.

In the memory of Holodomor victims

Ukraine remembers the victims of the Holodomor famine on November 24. Millions of people died of starvation between 1932 and 1933 in Ukraine. The monument "Candle of Memory" in the memory of Holodomor victims was opened today in Uzhgorod (Transcarpathia, Ukraine). I've been working on that monument all year round. It is an image of a woman in the last prayer whose life is melting like a candle from artificial famine organized by Stalin regime.

The official opening of the monument to Taras Shevchenko in Sofia, Bulgaria.
 Taras Shevchenko is a great poet, philosopher, artist and National Hero of Ukraine. Recently there was an official opening of the monument in Sofia. I made it a few years ago, but official ceremony was on the 30th of June. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev cut the ribbon. President of Bulgaria in 1997–2002 Petar Stoyanov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, Ambassador of Ukraine in Bulgaria Mykola Baltazhy, Ambassadors of a number of countries took part in the ceremony. It was a very warm communication with Ukrainian community in Bulgaria. Many thanks to patrons of that project and all people who supported it.
It is bronze, 4 meter high.

The inauguration will take place in March 2014 on the eve of the 200th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko

In 1894-98 M. Berdyaev was a student of Kiev’s University – and Memorial Stela is installed on the wall of one of main buildings of that University in the center of Kiev. Freedom is the major theme of Berdyaev's philosophy. He has often been called the philosopher of freedom. I was inspired by his The philosophy of Freedom  and The Meaning of the Creative Act.
